Elegant and Romantic Lace Off-the-Shoulder A-Line Wedding Dress
Lazaro Perez is a highly regarded designer of the Lazaro collections and is one of the fashion world's leading bridal designers. I fell in love with his designs because they are romantic and elegantly timeless. Being a petite 5'2" and not a "frilly girl", I wanted an A-line gown with a bit of flare at the bottom with luxurious fabrics and detailed embroidery. Then I found Lazaro's 2019 dress style, "Bea"! It was just the right amount of "sophisticated romantic" for my tastes--an A-line gown with a scalloped sweetheart neckline, off-the-shoulder cap sleeve, and horsehair accent at hemline.
I purchased it from the Fall 2019 collection for a May 2020 wedding. (I've checked the current Lazaro styles and it still can stand up to the current designs and trends--one of my reasons for choosing it was its timeless aspect.)
Unfortunately, COVID happened, and after rescheduling my wedding to 2021 and then 2022, I was still unable to have my "big wedding" due to my Irish/British relatives still being locked down. We finally canceled. Therefore, I have never worn it to an event. I wore it for album pictures taken in May 2022. Although I only wore it for about 2.5 hours just for pictures (no food or drink or dancing), I still had it dry cleaned by a Knot-recommended professional vendor, so it is not only in brand-new condition, but it is definitely clean! It is in excellent, like-new condition. I can find no defects, blemishes, stains, or damage on the front, sides, back, or hemline.
The off-shoulder cap sleeves needed to have elastic added to them so they would stay put, but otherwise, it is a comfortable dress, I think once the veil is off and it is bustled for dancing and visiting with guests it will be even more comfortable.
Speaking of alterations, the bridal shop recommended I order a "label Size 12" and have it altered (I wore a size 4/6 at the time). The alterations were $735 (I did NOT include the alterations in the retail or selling price).
The alterations were:
- the bustle (American)
- added elastic to shoulders
- altered front seams of the bust, side seams, and the hem.
My measurements were:
- Bust 33.5
- Waist 27
- Hips 37.5
- My height was 5'2 and I wore flat shoes, so the maximum height for this petite dress is about 5'.3, depending on heel height.
NOTE: The veil I purchased was not a Lorenzo, but it is such a perfect match, you would think they were made together! Cathedral length with beautiful sequined appliqués. This was purchased for $1,199 retail.
The veil pictured in the formal portrait can be included for an additional $450. You need NOT purchase the veil to purchase the dress. I just wanted to give you the option!
